Untied Brewing Company Whatever it takes Imperial India Pale Ale

Untied Brewing Company Whatever it takes Imperial India Pale Ale

This time it’s a new double IPA from my local and favorite brewery, Untied Brewing Company. Called « Whatever it Takes », 8.3% vol.

Very dark yellow in glass, almost orange, cloudy with a thin rim of beige foam. Not very bubbly.

Nose : very fruity, tropical fruits, passion fruit.

In mouth not very bubbly indeed, but very fruity, mainly tropical and more precisely passion fruit. A bit of citrus and yellow fruit like peach essentially. Excellent ! Very sweet and not bitter at all, absolutely delicious.

I had just bought 4 cans to try out and by the time I had tasted it and enjoyed it so much, they were out of cans. We can still have it but in draft in a growler which is too much for the 2 of us, my son and myself.

One night that the 2 of us (my son and I) were cooking together, I asked him if he wanted a beer while we were preparing the dinner, then what beer (we have a lot of different choices with all the excellent and various types our local brewery makes). He answered « whatever » and I could provide ! I took his word literally and poured us some Whatever it Takes.

Champagne Rosé Nicolas Feuillate Reserve Exclusive

Champagne Rosé Nicolas Feuillate Reserve Exclusive

I bought this champagne rosé for our Christmas as we were only the 3 of us, me, my daughter and my younger son, already tucked away together for this whole year so I figured we could have something different and more pricey for once. I had planed on buying the Laurent-Perrier champagne rosé but it had gone up to 75 or 79 dollars (at least here in New Jersey) and that was at my usual store where they have better prices than elsewhere. When they told me the price I declined and settled for this Nicolas Feuillate champagne rosé that was « only » 50 dollars. 50 dollars used to be the price for the Laurent-Perrier rosé and the Feuillate rosé not so long ago was 38 dollars. Impact on the raise of import taxes on French goods or prices that increased for the holiday season ? I have no clue but 50 dollars was my limit. Nicolas Feuillate which I have never had before, has a good reputation so I figured I could go with it.

So it’s a real champagne from the Champagne region in France and a rosé one. 12% vol.

Deep salmon pink with a lot of medium and very regular bubbles.

The nose is fruity, mainly strawberries.

In mouth, delicate bubbles, carbonated taste, very fruity taste more raspberry than strawberry. The after mouth is a bit green plus some wine-like taste (vineux).

It was very enjoyable of course, don’t get me wrong. But I prefer the Laurent-Perrier champagne rosé which I have had many times over the years and which used to be my go-to champagne for special occasions. Though this time the price was too steep for my enjoyment.
